NEW ON THE LIST
’10 ½ Bt. Hitching Post, Pinot Noir
Sweet, oak-spiced raspberry and cherry flavors are firmed by notes of black pepper and licorice, with silky tannins adding support. Finishes with lingering floral notes and a touch of smokiness.
’07 Storrs, Carignane, Santa Clara Valley
Soft and bright with loads of strawberry, raspberry and even a little cherry for good measure. Medium-bodied and supple on the palate, this rustic red is ready to enjoy now and throughout the year.
BEST CARIGNANE OF REGION - 2011 California State Fair
’10 Morgan, Cotes du Crows, Monterey County
This Rhone-style blend has a rich ruby red color, highlighted with purple edges. Blackberry pie, boysenberry and violet aromas jump out of the glass. The wine is medium-bodied with soft tannins; it offers a mouthful of dried cherry, pear and blackberry flavors. Its weight and balance make it a perfect pairing with anything off the grill.
’09 August Ridge, Barbera
Aromas of raspberry and spice. Flavors of cherry, plum and anise with a peppery finish. Well balanced tannins and acid clear the palate of grilled meats, sharp cheeses, and nuts.
‘09 Ridge, York Creek, Spring Mountain, Napa Valley
The 2009 Ridge York Creek Zinfandel displays a cherry/plum nose with accents of fig and mint. Dark fruit flavors on the palate. This vintage has a full, tannic structure, firm acidity, a nicely-rounded finish.
Blend: 93% Zinfandel and 7% Petite Sirah
’08 B.V. Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
The 2008 Beaulieu Vineyard Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon captures this area with briary blackberry, dark plum, black cherry, chocolate and tobacco leaf. The famous Rutherford Dust gives the wine cocoa-powder tannins and texture, while well-integrated oak adds toasty mocha notes to the generous aromas and expansive flavors.
’08 Patland, Cabernet Sauvignon, Stagecoach Vineyard,
All I had to do was smell this wine to know it was going to be something special. It has a subtle nose of black cherry notes with seamless plum, blueberry with hints of red currant brightness, licorice and herbs. The palate entry is seamless, polished and brilliant with great poise and a velvet-like texture. This is one of the biggest surprises of the year for me! A real sleeper.
