New Wine Additions May 15, 2012
’08 Moshin, Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley Sonoma
Located in the heart of Pinot country, Moshin consistently produces top notch old world style wines. This 08 RRV has a beautiful nose of really rich red cherry, raspberry and strawberries with undertones of smoke and tobacco. It's luscious and smooth with a finish that just lingers for minutes. Great wine made by a great winemaker.
’07 Twomey, Merlot, Napa Valley
The ’07 Twomey Merlot has a dark ruby color and a nose of fresh, ripe black cherry and blackberry, dark chocolate. On the palate, it has an attack full of explosive fruit and violets. Its long finish echoes berry fruit, chocolate and grainy, well-integrated tannins that promise excellent cellaring potential.
’07 Minor Family, The Oracle, Napa Valley
A wonderful wine, delicious and satisfying, and another great example of the ’07 vintage in Napa. Made of the five classic Bordeaux varieties, it’s full-bodied, dry and richly tannic. The flavors are enormously complex, suggesting blackberries, cassis, olive tapenade and cedar, with a long, sweet finish. Already throwing some sediment, this wine should be decanted.
’08 Beaulieu Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford, Napa Valley
This wine exudes its sense of place—the personality and quality of Cabernet Sauvignon grown on Napa Valley's Rutherford Bench. The 2008 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon captures this area with briary blackberry, dark plum, black cherry, chocolate and tobacco leaf. The famous Rutherford Dust gives the wine cocoa-powder tannins and texture, while well-integrated oak adds toasty mocha notes to the generous aromas and expansive flavors.
’08 Ramey, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
The 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon impresses for its layers of dark, plush fruit. Hints of cassis, grilled herbs, tobacco and cedar develop in the glass, adding further complexity and depth. Firm tannins frame the long finish. This is a very classic and beautiful Cabernet. In 2008 the blend is 92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.
’10 Turley, Zinfandel, Old Vine, California
The 2010 Old Vines shows classic Zinfandel spice with dark fruit flavors. Every year they take old, dry farmed vineyards from across Napa, Sonoma, Paso Robles, Amador County, Lodi, and Mendocino to make the Old Vines. Dark, dense, and a rich complexity that can only come from old vine Zinfandel that’s been shown the Turley signature.
